Panasonic Asia Pacific Pte Ltd. Historical Time Line

National Rice Cooker was the first Matsushita product to be introduced in Singapore.

Matsushita Electric Trading (S) Pte Ltd (METOS) was established.

METOS was reorganised to Asia Matsushita Electric (S) Pte Ltd and was awarded Operational Headquarter Status by the Singapore government.

Human Development Center (HDC) & Audio Video & Information Research Center (AVIRC) were established as divisions of AMS.

Panasonic Distribution Center located in Tuas (Singapore) started its operation. PT Asia Matsushita Battery (AMB) was established in Batam.

Panasonic Singapore (PSP) began directly distributing National, Panansonic and Technics products in Singapore.

Panasonic Singapore Laboratories Pte Ltd (PSL), formerly known as AVIRC, was established.

Panasonic Finance (Asia), formerly known as Treasury Dept was established.

Asia Matsushita Parts Center (AMPC) was established. Panasonic Singapore began direct sales & service of system products.

Panasonic Semiconductor of South Asia (PSSA) was established.

AMF celebrated its 25th Anniversary.

DPSC was established.

Broadcast Regional Operation Center (BROC) was established to strengthen and expand broadcast business in South Asian Countries.

ASEAN Zone Engineering Center (AZEC) was established to support sales companies in promoting system solution business/project in the region.

Asia Matsushita Electric (S) Pte Ltd was renamed Matsushita Electric Asia Pte Ltd on 1 April 2001 to assume the role of regional headquarters.

Panasonic was adopted as the unified global brand to replace National, backed by the new brand slogan "Panasonic ideas for life".
