Panasonic Global Eco Learning Program

Panasonic initiated educational activities under its Eco Skool program in 2010 to educate children for a sustainable society and healthier future. Since its start Panasonic has reached more than 175 schools covering nearly 41,000 students. Eco Skool is a program that supports employees and teachers at schools to implement environmentally related educational activities by arranging special factory tours and lessons at educational facilities. Earlier the training module followed was theatrical to impart knowledge to children. In 2012-13, the program marks its third year with a new and interactive module of communication and education. Panasonic is undertaking various activities under its Eco Skool umbrella in 2012-13:

o Prithvi Vandana: is a nature empowerment program to impart knowledge about Global Warming and Climate Change using theatre as the mode of communication. Panasonic has reached out to a total of 239 schools in 24 cities across India with this initiative enlightening the participants (students of grade 6th to 12th and audience) to take collective steps towards saving the environment. This program was kick started in August 2012 and will commence in Dec 2012 concluding with a grand finale to recognize the winners of this activity.

o Eco Picture Diary (EPD) program kickstarted in 2010 in India. The contest is about creating pictures, photographs or illustration on serious approaches towards eco activities undertaken by children, their family or friends within the space around them like their home or schools. In its third year, the activity is being carried out in 42 schools in Delhi NCR and Western UP witnessing creative participation of 3000 students over a period of two months (Aug – Sept)

o Panasonic has another educational support program – Kids Witness News (KWN) which was initiated in 2011 for the first time aimed to develop creativity and communication skills in elementary and junior high school-aged children and foster their ability to work in teams through video production. The program is meant for students between 6th to 10th standard from five different schools of Delhi NCR selected after orientation and marking by expert panel. As a part of the Kid Witness News Program, participants are required to research, write, act in, produce and direct videos on topics that were relevant to the students and their communities. Panasonic continues to promote the creative talent on India through this program for the second year in 2012

Digging the wish well

An initiative to voice the necessity of clean drinking water and hygienic living conditions for lower economic class under Panasonic’s campaign ‘A drop of pure water for every soul’.Panasonic recently partnered with 50 schools in Delhi to install 200 water purifiers to provide clean and safe drinking water to the children. The first set of water purifiers installed at N P Girls Sec School was inaugurated by Smt. Sheila Dixit, Honorable CM of Delhi. These water purifiers installed across 50 Delhi schools will be maintained by Panasonic for a period of one year. Eco Roots Foundation will also be conducting workshops to educate children about clean & safe drinking water, water conservation and sanitation in association with the Panasonic’s ongoing Ecoskool Program.

Panasonic Young Learner’s Program

Another educational initiative by Panasonic aimed at training youth in spoken English & personality development to help them take advantage of the many opportunities in growing Indian economy. The program is targeted at lower socio-economic segment residing in resettlement colonies and jhuggies and is being undertaken from Sept 2012 to Mar 2013

Panasonic Ratti Chhatr (Scholarship Program)

This was initiated in India in 2009 with an aim to foster highly educated experts who can contribute to the country’s development and promoting mutual friendship between India and Japan. Since its start in 2009, Panasonic has selected 5 Indian scholars under this program. Panasonic recently felicitated 4 selected scholars to pursue higher studies in Japan. The winners of Panasonic scholarship 2013, Abhiram Railkar (IIT Madras), Abhishek Panigrahi (IIT Guwahati), Saurabh Bhide (PVG College of Engineering and Technology) and Ankita Jain (Jaipur National University) will be entitled for a scholarship package from April 2013 and Panasonic shall provide a financial support of 150,000 yen per month as the tuition fee for the first year; and for the subsequent two years, it will increase to 180,000 yen per month besides the tuition fees. As of date, 9 Indian students have been selected under this program to pursue scholarship in Japan.

Panasonic Shakti (Women Empowerment)

Panasonic introduced its holistic concept of unique renewable solar energy module in form of first-ever standalone power system “Life Innovation Center” in India in December 2011 that strives to bring together the elements of Skill development, Renewable Energy Solutions (Solar) and, Eco – Conscious products that lends itself to synergistic and sustainable development of the country. The 20ft container is expected to provide electricity to power off-grid areas and support disaster-ridden areas as temporary infrastructure as it can be easily transportable by sea, rail and land.
Panasonic partnered with Everonn India Foundation, Chennai- a leading Indian nonprofit education organization, and the State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu (SIPCOT) in Irungattukottai to contribute a Life Innovation Centre to the state-sponsored SIPCOT Centre as part of a project to improve vocational training, primarily for women from less privileged sections of society.

Clean and Green Panasonic

For a ‘cleaner’ and ‘greener’ tomorrow - Panasonic has strategically placed dustbins at key areas of Gurgaon i.e. Iffco chowk and Cybercity to encourage citizens to keep the city clean and litter-free.

‘I Recycle’ program

Panasonic has initiated the ‘I Recycle’ program from May 1, 2012. The program has replaced its earlier ‘Voluntary End-of-Life Recycling’ program. The program reinforces Panasonic’s commitment to protect the environment and makes it very easy for consumers to recycle their electronic waste.

Panasonic Shramdan

Blood Donation Camp: The Panasonic team got together to encourage blood donation by organizing a blood donation camp on 9th August this year.
Joy of Giving Week: Panasonic celebrated Joy of giving week from 3rd to 10th October this year. Employees contributed in order to fulfill the wishes of underprivileged kids. Also top management of Panasonic took out time to guide and motivate youth of Smile foundation.
