Save energy when unfreezing frozen food
To unfreeze a frozen product, put it in the fridge the day before eating it. The frozen food will unfreeze slowly, with no degradation. This process also cools down your fridge down!

Recycle, Recycle, Recycle!
From newspaper, to egg cartons, to plastic bottles…lots of things can be recycled. Even coffee grounds can be used as fertilizer for some plants. So don't throw away what you can use again!

Water-saving Toilet flush
Fill a one-quart plastic bottle with water for each toilet in your home. Submerge one bottle in each toilet tank. You will save water per flush. If the toilet isn't flushing well, try using a smaller bottle.

Eco Font
Download an environment-friendly font. The Eco font designed by a Dutch creative agency SPRANQ, uses up to 20% less ink. There are tiny dots in each letter which is more visible when you blow it up. At a 12-point font size, the characters are surprisingly pleasant to the eyes! Download the Eco font for free at www.ecofont.eu

Lighting
Lighting accounts for 10-15% of the electricity bill in most of our homes. Switch off lights when not in use, or invest in energy saving light bulbs (which last approximately 12 times longer than ordinary bulbs and consume 1/5th of the energy as they produce light rather than heat) is a sure way to save the environment and 'money'.

Printing habits
When you are printing long documents, use single-spaced settings. Better still, use the Eco font. Also, print on both sides of the paper and learn how to use your printer properly, so that you don’t cause a paper jam and have to re-print.

Close the fridge door
Decide what you want before you open the fridge - and keep it organized, so things are easier to find! The less time spent with the refrigerator door open, the more energy conserved.

Keep it online
Say "no thank you" when people ask if you'd like to be placed on non-electronic mailing lists. Use the internet instead of catalogues to save on the amount of junk mail that just gets thrown into the trash.

Full load please
Run only full loads of laundry and full loads of dishes to save water.

Ditch the screen saver
When your computer has a screensaver up or is in sleep mode, it uses the same amount of energy as when you're working on it. Turn your computer off when you're not using it.

Rechargeable
Buy rechargeable batteries. You'll save money, always have batteries on hand when you need them, and avoid throwing them (and their harmful toxins) in landfills.

Faster cooking
Put a lid on it! If you put lids on the pots on your stoves while you cook, it saves 20% of the cooking time (and energy) needed. That means you get your food faster!
